Tara McConomy

I started Irish dancing at the age of three under the tuition of my mother & aunt, Elizabeth & Rosetta Mc Conomy. I danced competitively until the age of 22, gaining many titles & world medals. The highlight of my dancing career was winning the Ulster, All Ireland & World Championships in 1997.

I joined the cast of Riverdance in 1997 & toured with the show for three years. I was also female dance captain with Dancing on Dangerous Ground & performed with the show until its end in March 2000.

On returning home I obtained my TCRG & became the third teacher in the Mc Conomy School. We have many classes throughout the Northwest area, teaching in Derry, Donegal & Tyrone. I qualified as an adjudicator in June 2007. I am delighted to be on the judging panel for Oireachtas Rince na hEireann 2010 & would like to wish An Coimisiun & all competitors the very best of luck for the week ahead..
